1When I was still walking on the road, my heart was perplexed within me, and my mind was distracted.
2I said in my heart, “What is the iniquity of activity which my father is doing?
3Is it not he rather who is God for his Gods? Because they come into being from his sculpting, his planning, and his expertise?
4Is it not rather fitting that they should worship my father, since they are his work?
5What is this representation of my father in his works? 16 Behold, Marumath fell and could not stand up in his sanctuary, nor could I myself lift him until my father came and we raised him up . 7 And even so we did not succeed his head fell . 8 And he put it on another stone of another God, which he had made without head.2 9 And the other five Gods were broken in pieces down from the ass, who could not help themselves3 and nor to hurt the ass, because4 it smashed them, nor did their shards come up out of the river. 10 And I said in my heart: “If this be so, how can Merumath, my father’s God, having the head of another stone, and himself being made of another stone, rescue a man, or hear a man’s prayer and reward him?”.
