Scriptural Savant

Apocalypse of Abraham 28

Related ancient text — scholarly reference

Extra-canonical text — not LDS scripture and not in the KJV Apocrypha. Provided as scholarly reference for parallel literature of the Second Temple period and the early Christian era. Read with discernment; the Apostle Jude quotes 1 Enoch and Paul knew this material, but inclusion here is for study, not doctrine.

1And I answered and said: “0 Mighty One! hallowed be your power.

2Be favourable to my request and show me, because for this reason you have brought me up here, 33 what I saw will happen for a long time.” 4 And He showed me a multitude of His people and said to me: 5 “Because of them through the four “entrances” as you have seen, 6 I will be provoked by them and My punishment will be inflicted upon them, because of their actions. 7 But in the fourth generation of one hundred years, corresponding to one hour of the age, 8 the same value as one hundred years5, there will be misfortune among the nations, 9 but equally for one hour there will be mercy and honor among those nations.

Public-domain text (R.H. Charles 1913 and equivalents). These works are not canonical, but several were widely read in antiquity and one (1 Enoch) is quoted by name in Jude 1:14–15. Useful for understanding the doctrinal landscape from which the apostles and earliest saints taught.
