2 Enoch Pseudepigrapha — not canonical
Also called the Slavonic Apocalypse of Enoch or the Book of the Secrets of Enoch, preserved only in Old Church Slavonic but almost certainly translated from a Greek original probably composed in first-century AD Alexandria. The narrative arc is Enoch's ascent through seven heavens, the throne-vision in the seventh, the deposit of heavenly tablets, his return to earth to instruct his sons, and his second translation. Chapters 22–37 (the throne-vision and creation account) carry the most striking parallels to Joseph Smith's first vision, D&C 76, and the council-in-heaven theology of Abraham 3 and the endowment narrative. The long recension (used here) contains the Melchizedek nativity material in chapters 71–72 — singularly important alongside Alma 13 and JST Genesis 14. 60 chapters · W.R.
